August 2013 BarkBox Review

We received our August BarkBox in the mail today!  (We also received our Petflow Spoiled Rotten Box as well, that review is coming tomorrow.)  Previous month's BarkBox reviews (along with the most current) can be seen HERE.

The Goods

The Honest Kitchen Ice/Steamy Pups.  Approximate retail value $0.99.  A dehydrated blend of dehydrated chicken, turkey, whey, dandelion, asparagus, watercress, honey and parsley, to be mixed with warm water and served warm, or frozen in cubes.  I am excited to received this, because I do like THK as a company.  I have never purchased any of their products, but have received samples.  If this goes over well, I might be tempted to purchase something from them.  I am particularly interested in their dehydrated goat milk.
Aussie Naturals Shark Floatie Toy .  Approximate retail value $11.99.  Fun toy made by the same company that made our Bully Horns, which have proven to be a huge hit.  This is a water toy, with seemingly durable material.  The greatest thing about it?  It's a toy within a toy!!  If the outer part is torn or comes apart, there is a ball attached to a rope inside!!  Pretty exciting, to me anyways.  This is a toy I will probably let the crew play with, just to see how durable it is, if anything else.

Plato Original Natural Duck Strips.  Approximate retail value $8.79.  Made in the USA, 90% duck, decent ingredients, no yeast.  What's not to like?  These strips smell pretty good, and are easily broken into smaller pieces.  Neeko and Bruce readily ate theirs when offered, whereas Faolan sniffed and walked away.  I've come to expect this from the little turd.

Barkworthies Bully Flakes.  Approximate retail value $7.94.  Bully stick flakes to be used as a food topper, designed for picky dogs.  What a clever idea!  What dog doesn't love bully sticks?  Fortunately, my dogs have no problem eating their raw meals, but I have no issue with sprinkling some of this on the occasional meal. I am sure it will be a hit, seeing as how much my rotten dogs love bully sticks.

Primal Pet Foods Turkey Liver Munchies.  Approximate retail value $6.99.  Another company I like.  Only one ingredient-turkey liver.  Awesome.  These treats are also easily broken into smaller pieces.  All three woofers (even picky Faolan) ate their pieces with gusto when offered.  I am very pleased with these treats.

Once again, I am very impressed with this month's BarkBox.  BarkBox has really stepped it up the last couple months, which makes me (and the woofers) very happy.

    1. BarkBox has a link on their website that you can use to email customer service. I was having issues signing up, and the rep was very nice to deal with, and helped me out.

  4. Those bully flakes were amazing. My dogs like bully sticks but those flakes create a whole new reaction.
Our shark lasted 5 minutes, that was sad. The rope inside was not designed for a bigger dog at all. Nor was the shark itself.
