Oh, Pinterest!

I typically like Pinterest for recipes and various cooking inspirations. I have done a couple of crafty things from there, such as a headboard...

...and a picture frame.

Recently I found a pin about printing pictures onto tissue paper, then using Mod Podge to glue them to a stretched canvas. I might be addicted to this little project. I've only made three so far, but am working out the kinks in it. So much cheaper than ordering canvas prints online or from a store. I purchased 8"x10" canvases from Hobby Lobby. They are sold in a package of two for $3.99. Mod Podge was $4.99. Cheap sponge paintbrushes, three for $1.99, and I already had the tissue paper, but it's also inexpensive. Hobby Lobby frequently issues coupons for 40% off one item, and the coupon can also be found online or on various smartphone apps.

I made this one for myself.

I used thumb tacks to put some pretty ribbon with a bow on it so I can hang it that way.

I made this one for my awesome neighbors.

On this one, I used the Mod Podge to glue the ribbon on the edges, and to make a small hanging loop without a bow.

I also made one for my sister, using this picture.

It's my nephew and his dog, but I didn't snap a pic of the finished product.

It's not difficult once you get the hand of it, and quite fun.

  1. Tissue paper? Huh, that's interesting. I'll have to try that sometime.
