'Tis Fall. Fall and Winter make me and my dogs happy. It is the season of boots, sweaters, apples...and pumpkin everything! Pumpkin pie, lattes, butter, bread, you name it.
Most dogs enjoy pumpkin, and it has some benefits for them, including:
- Digestive support-the fiber in pumpkin can help temporary/situational diarrhea and constipation.
- Immune health-pumpkin contains beta carotene and antioxidants that can promote a healthy immune system.
The Ingredients
- 1/2 can of pumpkin (regular canned pumpkin can be substituted, but NOT pumpkin pie filling.)
- 1.5 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup old fashioned oats
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp cinnamon
The Process
Combine all ingredients and mix well. It makes a heavy dough. Flour your work surface and rolling pin. Roll out dough to approximately 1/4" thickness. Use cookie cutter to cut into desired shapes. Preheat oven to 350 F. Place cookies on cookie sheet, and bake for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, flip cookies using spatula. Cook additional 20 minutes, then turn oven off, leaving cookies in oven for additional 20 minutes. Cookies will be in oven a total of 60 minutes. Remove from oven, let cool, and watch your dogs enjoy them!

ReplyDeleteI've never baked for my dog babies, but then I don't bake for my human babies either. Am I a terrible person?

ReplyDeleteOur dogs love pumpkin. I'm making some apple treats this weekend, but we got some of this canned pumpkin too and plan to bake some pumpkin treats soon too! One thing I love about fall is that it inspires me to finally bake for the dogs!
