I used to have a YMCA membership, and didn't live far from the nearest Y. On July 3, 2012, my sister, my nephew, and myself were enjoying the outdoor pool at the YMCA, because that year was a ridiculously hot summer. During a swim break, I was perusing Facebook on my phone. At that time I was a member of a few wolfdog groups on Facebook. I have since left them, because of, you know, drama...
Someone shared this photo, originally in color.
Keep in mind this was four years ago, and Facebook for mobile devices has improved greatly since then. Anyways, I was immediately taken with this photo, and expressed as much. Due to the fact I was on my phone, I could not tell the original source of the photo. All I knew is that this gorgeous, approximately 9 month old puppy was in a shelter somewhere.
Less than an hour later I learned that the shelter he was in was located in a neighboring county. This wolfdog group had members from all over the US and Canada, and photos of animals in shelters frequently were posted, but none had ever touched me the way this one did.
I learned that "Dante" was an owner surrender, and the shelter was being very stringent on who he was adopted out to.
Short story long, two days later I drove out to that small county shelter to meet "Dante" and the rest is history.
