Happy Gotcha Day, Faolan!

Two years ago today, I went "just to look" at a dog at a nearby shelter whose picture I fell in love with the first time I saw it.  We all know how that goes.  I brought Faolan (then named Dante) home that afternoon.

I brought home a skinny, pitiful, scared older puppy.  He whined, and paced.  He submissively urinated, daily, for months on end.  He seemed "reactive" to everything.

Some groceries, patience, love and consistency have made him a fun dog who loves everyone he meets.  He still has moments of fear, but I am now comfortable taking him just about anywhere, which is something I would never have dreamed of two years ago.

He is sweet, silly, and incredibly affectionate.  He loves to give kisses.  To everyone.  He sometimes grumbles (a true northern breed!) if he doesn't want to do something, but is all talk.

He makes me laugh, every single day.  We had some rough patches in the beginning, dealing with his fear and lack of confidence, but he now amazes me on a regular basis.

Happy Gotcha Day, little boy!!

  1. Happy Gotcha Day! You give me hope that my rescue (from 1 year ago) might be able to not be reactive at things if given enough time and patience.
