This month, they got some love from Chewy, in the form of a play mat/tunnel made by KONG.
Typical of cats, they found the box it came in irresistible.
The Triangle Play Mat is just that-a mat that folds into a triangle tunnel, and stays in place with velcro tabs. Two of the inner sides are a soft, fleecy material, and the third is sissel, perfect for scratching. A catnip mouse hangs from one end.
|Investigating the mouse.|
My girls go nuts for anything catnip, so this immediately got their attention.
Noelle still considers herself quite the huntress, even though she will be 10 next month. She had no hesitation in batting at the mouse, claws out and all.
Both girls eventually made their way through the tunnel, with little to no apprehension.
Though Juice is a bit of a chunk, both of my cats are considered "small." This is a good thing, as the tunnel this makes is not large. I have already caught Noelle napping in it. She can be someone skittish at times, so I imagine she feels it is a safe, secluded place to hide out.
I like that it is interactive and engaging for the kitties. Various textures for sensory, they can crawl through it, and of course the catnip mouse...
I left it unfolded for a few hours, and caught Noelle scratching the sissel surface, which is perfect. At 10 years of age each, my girls know what material is meant for scratching, and sissel is one of these materials.
I am pleased with this, because it engages and stimulates the girls in many different ways. This is currently on sale on chewy.com!
