10 years ago this month, a little black and white kitten came into my life. I had toyed with the idea of a cat, as I was a busy 25 year old. I was working 12 hour night shifts as a Registered Nurse in a busy critical care unit, but wanted the companionship of an animal, because I had grown up with pets. I received Juice from a friend of a friend, after she had been scooped up from the side of the road. She was approximately 3 or 4 months old. Five months later, Noelle came into my life.
Juice and Noelle have been my heroes for the last 10 years. They have seen me through changes and advancements in my career, two apartments and two houses thus far. They have stood by me through relationships with humans, including that guy who told me I would have to get rid of them...I got rid of him instead. They have always offered up purrs, snuggles, chin boops and cozy kneading, even when I didn't feel like engaging.
They helped me raise Neeko from an ornery puppy to a pretty good dog, and Neeko is definitely a hero of mine as well. They stood with me when I rescued two crazy boy dogs, Bruce and Faolan (who is also my hero, for various reasons.) They are always affectionate, happy to see me, and willing to listen. When you love your pet, every moment matters.
Pets are heroes. They don't judge, they just let us be us. However flawed and imperfect we may be.
Cats aren't good at posing for photos... |
I show my cats my appreciation for them by trying to give them the best life possible. One of the ways I do this is by feeding them quality, natural cat foods. Many years ago, I began including Chicken Soup for the Soul canned cat food in their diet. Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food is wholesome and balanced, with real meat as the first ingredient, along with fruits, vegetables, and herbs. The girls are looking forward to trying out the dry Chicken Soup for the Soul pet food as well.

We are now feeding one of the 951 cats +4 kittens at our house, we call her wienie, she likes canned food and a warm house, sometimes though she doesn't show up for a few days and we get nervous, she loves Gussie the most. stella rose
