Happy Birthday Bruce!

Today is Bruce's 7th birthday! Though he is a rescue from a local rescue group, I tracked down where he came from and know for a fact that today is his big day. He has spent 5.5 of his 7 years with me.

Dogs are considered seniors at 7, so Bruce has officially earned the designation of "Grumpy Old Man."

Look anywhere except at me, Bruce.
Though I often bitch about him, Bruce is exceptionally funny and sweet at times. He is also exceptionally demanding and an asshole at times.

I cannot wrap my head around the thought of him being a "senior." He has so much vim and vigor. He is exceptionally healthy, and aside from his fur getting lighter in areas (particularly his face) he shows no signs of aging.

Best I could do of he and I together.
He is very sweet when he wants to be, but is a consummate grump. He grumbles if being made to do something he doesn't necessarily want to do. He screams for food and to come back in if I have them all outside for whatever reason. If he knows he is not supposed to have something, he wants it that much more.

His favorite things are food, belly rubs, food, peeing on posts, trees and grass, food, zooming around with Faolan, food, and treats.

I struggle with him at times. But sometimes, he is a very good dog. So sweet, so affectionate.

Happy birthday big boy.

  5. We're sorry we missed your birthday, Bruce. Happy Belated! Some dogs are difficult at times; but I think that only makes the good times with them even more special.
