20 Reasons Dogs Make the Best Roommates

As a single female living "alone" I have reached a conclusion...

Dogs make the best roommates.

There are plenty of reasons as to why this true, but I will highlight some of my favorites.

They are always happy to see me. It doesn't matter if I've been gone 20 minutes or 12 hours, my dogs are happy to see me when I get home. Whether or not this is because they are excited because they know they are going to be fed is debatable.

They are always happy with what I serve them for meals. Be it pork hearts, green tripe, or chicken leg quarters, they do not complain or give me a guilt trip about what's for dinner. Except for Neeko on occasion.

They never leave the toilet seat up. Though they will leave water on the seat if they have been drinking from the toilet.

They don't care if I make the bed or do the dishes. Actually they don't care how clean the house is at all.

But their window nose art and seasonal shedding force me to clean.

I don't have to jockey for bathroom time with them. And they don't stink up the bathroom!

They enjoy the same TV as me.  Dumb comedies and documentaries for the win!

We have the same politics. End of discussion.

They don't fight with me over the thermostat. They like it just as cool, if not cooler, than I do.

If I forget to set my alarm, I'm still ok. Bruce won't let me miss his breakfast.

They don't care what I wear. Work clothes, workout clothes, pajamas or grungy yard clothes, they always think I'm beautiful.

They don't judge what I eat. If I want to have coleslaw and yogurt for dinner, that's my business.

They don't care who I have over. As long as my guests pass their customs' inspections.

I don't get grief about anything I purchase while out shopping. Because it usually includes something for them.

I always have someone to talk to.

They are as good as any alarm system. Ain't nobody sneaking up on my house.

If there is a fox in the area, they alert me to it. Or a raccoon, squirrel, coyote, groundhog, rabbit, chipmunk, opossum, etc.

They support me keeping chickens. They love fresh eggs as much as I do! I have a feeling they will support me getting a couple of goats too. Because they also love goat milk.

They force me to go to work daily. Because feeding three large dogs isn't necessarily cheap.

They make me feel loved. And after all, that's what matters most.

  3. I couldn't agree more! Even though I'm married, my hubby works a lot more hours than I do, so I spend a lot of time home alone with the dogs. They are the best company, and I always feel safe with them around.

PS...We can't wait until we have fresh eggs! If you ever decide to get goats, I'd love to hear more about it, so hope you share.
