Instinct Raw Boost Minis Review

I feed a homemade prey model raw diet.  Prior to feeding homemade, I frequently fed Nature's Variety Instinct Raw, and still do from time to time for variety.  Instinct kibble was a part of my rotation when I fed kibble as well.

My favorite thing about Nature's Variety is that they realize dogs and cats are designed to eat meat, and make foods and treats that reflect this.  We were given the opportunity to try out their Raw Boost Minis from Chewy.com and I am very pleased.

I have mentioned before that it seems that freeze dried or dehydrated treats tend to break into dust, especially when shipped.  That was not the case with these!

Ingredients: Chicken (Including Ground Chicken Bone), Turkey, Turkey Liver, Turkey Heart, Pumpkinseeds, Apples, Carrots, Butternut Squash, Ground Flaxseed, Montmorillonite Clay, Broccoli, Lettuce, Spinach, Dried Kelp, Apple Cider Vinegar, Parsley, Honey, Salmon Oil, Mixed Tocopherols, Olive Oil, Rosemary Extract, Blueberries, Alfalfa Sprouts, Persimmons, Inulin, Rosemary, Sage, Clove.

There is not a single ingredient listed that I would not eat (with the exception of chicken bone, but you know).  Montmorillonite clay is know for it's detoxifying benefits.  All ingredients are raw and freeze dried.  Though somewhat lengthy, these ingredients are pretty amazing.  No yeast, corn, wheat, soy, or gluten present.  Awesome.

Neeko is our official Chewy critic.

After posing and waiting patiently for the photo above this one, she decided to take matters into her own paws and mouth to get some treats.
Demonstrating her decent self control.  One cannot tell from this photo, but she was drooling.

These treats are smallish, making them the perfect size for training and walks.  Though freeze dried, I feel that they will hold up quite well in a treat pouch.  She loved these, and did a wonderfully emphatic "bang" (trick where she flops over on her side) for them.  The boys also adore these, and picky treat snob Faolan showed no hesitation whatsoever prior to gulping his first one down.

Raw Boost Minis next to U.S. dime for size comparison.

I am very pleased with the quality of these treats, and how well my dogs responded to them.

The princess trying to hypnotize us into giving her some more goodies.

These treats are currently on sale at Chewy.com.  Check them out!

  5. One of my dog walking clients uses these with her Lab. The dog goes nuts over them! I am a big fan of Nature's Variety and have fed their raw food and dry food to all of my pets.
