After feeding raw for several years, one would think I had my routine in order. I feed my dogs twice daily, and am guilty of forgetting to set food out to thaw for breakfast at least once a week.
I hate mornings when that happens. I have a few options:
- Try the quick thaw method, which involves submerging the bag of frozen food in a sink full of tepid water. Time consuming, and sometimes messy if the bag leaks,
- Putting a bunch of treats in a bowl, and serving it as breakfast,
- Feeding a couple of individually frozen organ portions for breakfast; or
- Dehydrated or freeze-dried raw food, like Bravo! Homestyle Complete.
Bravo Homestyle Complete is raw meat and organ based, and includes vegetables and cranberries. It is easily prepared by mixing equal parts Bravo with equal parts warm water, and allowing it to sit for 15 minutes. No, I have not tried any dry food before. However, I would love to have the chance. My Lady Girl is a border collie and dry food would be healthier for her.

ReplyDeleteWe used to feed Bravo all the time. The our local distributor retired. Now we make our own on a weekly basis. But, like you mentioned it is all to easy to forget to do something to prepare and have a quality dry back up food would be great. I'll be looking into Bravo dry! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteBOL! We have the same issue over here; we bonk ourselves in the head when we realize we have NOT defrosted the raw food for breakfast. It happens...but one would think one could remember to do such a simple task. It's why I always have some freeze-dried in the pantry. I haven't had the opportunity to try the Bravo yet but it looks like it would be something Oz gobbles up!
ReplyDeleteI have not tried a raw diet yet however, I have been researching it. Currently feeding a good quality kibble and thinking maybe doing a combination of both.

I don't think we've tried raw, though we have tried a couple of dehydrated foods like The Honest Kitchen, I And Love And You, and Sojos.

ReplyDeleteI feed Saya full raw anything from pork, chicken, lamb, beef to goat, or deer if I'm lucky..
ReplyDeletebella is fed kibble am and raw pm and does good luckily have been getting more raw and she loves it.
This stuff looks pretty good ingredient wise and definetly worth trying for nice quick easy meal.. might be nice for stuff like camping too.

ReplyDeleteI have not tried raw food before but i have tried dehydrated and I am not sure if that is the same or if this was raw before it was drehydrated. I would like to learn more the dehydrated I tried was not good my pups did not like it.
