Recent Raw Meals

 After the break are photos and examples of raw meals for dogs.  I feed mostly prey model raw, but do occasionally use some dehydrated raw and premade raw.

These are just a few photos of some of my dogs' meals over the last two weeks.

My crew mostly eats the same meals as each other, with the same portion sizes.

 I feed as much cut and protein variety as possible.

As many know, I feed a prey model raw diet.  I have had several friends ask me where they can find information about feeding raw, and the various types of raw.  I have compiled a list of books, blogs, and links that I both enjoy and feel would be helpful to those interested in raw.

I regularly blog about raw.  The following links are within my own blog.

Raw Meals-I take a cell phone picture of nearly all of my dogs' meals, and do a weekly post chronicling  what they ate for the week.

Raw Prep-some of these posts are also weekly meal posts, but include information on how I prep and/or portion meat to feed it to my dogs.

These are all websites that I feel provide good information in regards to feeding a raw diet.

Dogs Naturally Magazine is a print magazine (that I used to subscribe to, and should renew) with articles available online.  There are a few that I frequently refer people to.

Raw Learning contains a very large amount of information, compiled by Jane Anderson.

Dog Food Chat is a forum with several various canine discussion topics.  Their raw forum is where I garnered much of my information initially.  Though not nearly as active as it once was, there is lots of wonderful information to be found in old threads.

Raw Feeding Friends is my probably my favorite raw feeding Facebook group.  It has a few thousand members, is active, friendly and well-moderated.  They allow all styles of raw feeders, and those who are thinking of raw, to join.

Recent Raw Meals

The prey model raw meals from the last week for my three dogs. They weigh 96, 97, and 70 lbs, but all eat roughly the same amount/weight of food.

This past week, I fed seven different proteins-beef, venison, chicken, goat, pork, lamb/sheep, and turkey. As with humans, variety, including species, cuts, and organs, is important.

Chicken breast tenderloins.



Turkey neck, sheep liver.



Ground venison.



Venison.



Turkey hearts.



Chicken leg quarter, venison liver.



Lamb heart.



Beef heart, goat spleen.



Ground green tripe.



Venison ribs, beef kidney.



(Frozen) chicken breasts.

Recent Raw Meals and Prep

Meals from the past week. I feed twice daily, with breakfast being a smaller meal.

This past week, I fed seven different proteins-beef, venison, chicken, goat, pork, lamb, and turkey. As with humans, variety, including species, cuts, and organs, is important.

Frozen lamb lung.



Venison ribs, beef liver.



Ground green tripe.



Lamb hearts, goat spleen.



Beef heart.



Chicken leg quarter, beef liver.



Pork heart.



Turkey gizzards.



Venison, beef kidney.



Lamb heart.



Ground green tripe, duck necks.



Blue Ridge Beef Natural Mix.



Chicken leg quarter, beef liver.

I cut up and portioned out about 10 pounds of sheep liver. I go through about 8-10 lbs of liver per month. Between this and the venison liver I have left, I should be good for 6 weeks or so.

A venison liver, which I cut into 3-5 ounce chunks to be individually frozen. This was VERY gamey smelling.
